I’ve grown a lot of eggplants over the years, but these Ping Tung Long seeds sprouted faster than anything I’ve tried before. The plants are loaded with those slender, vibrant purple fruits, and the mild flavor is exactly as described—perfect for stir-fries without any bitterness.
The Ping Tung Long germinated fast and stood up to our hot summer without fuss, which I wasn't expecting from an heirloom. The fruits stay tender and slim even when I forget to pick them for a couple of days, and that mild flavor really comes through in stir-fries.
Planted these in late spring and the Ping Tung Longs came up fast, with those slender purple fruits staying tender even when I let them get a bit big. The mild flavor was perfect for stir-fries, and I was surprised how few seeds there were inside.
